Richmond Tenants Protected by Richmond Coronavirus/COVID-19 Pandemic Eviction Moratorium Until September 30, 2020
On July 21, 2020 the Richmond City Council extended the Richmond Coronavirus/COVID-19 Pandemic Eviction Moratorium through September 30, 2020. Under the Richmond Coronavirus/COVID-19 Pandemic Eviction Moratorium, a landlord may not terminate a commercial or residential tenancy for the following reasons:
- The tenant fails to pay rent because of a Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic related financial impact;
- Any no-fault eviction, unless necessary for the health and safety of tenants, neighbors, or the landlord.
The Richmond Coronavirus/COVID-19 Pandemic Eviction Moratorium makes serving a three-day notice to pay rent or quit, terminate a tenancy, or filing a related unlawful detainer unlawful.
